Archival news collection available for research and general review

CANDIA, NH – June 22, 2018 – The Candia Heritage Commission has acquired bound volumes of the Rockingham County News that spotlight Candia news and events from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

The local editions of the Goffstown News and Neighborhood Publications included “Candia Currents,” front page sections that provide interesting items and social news about life in Candia from 1978 to 1998.

“Reading through these volumes provides a delightful snapshot of Candia people and places of past decades,” says Diane Philbrick, Commission chair. “Not only do they offer longtime residents a reminder of cherished memories, but they also can provide newcomers with an informative look at Candia’s not-too-distant past.”

A sample volume can be viewed at the Smyth Public Library during regular library hours, and the remaining volumes will be housed in Schoolhouse #1 near the Candia Four Corners (the intersection of Routes 27 and 43).

Volumes are available for two-week loans; those interested can contact Candia Historical Society President Sis Richter at 603-483-2585 or Diane Philbrick at 603-483-8239.
