About
Mission: The Candia Community Power Committee was created with the goal of investigating the feasibility of developing and implementing a new and innovative program to buy electricity at group rates. The desired result being the lowering of electricity costs for all participating town residents.
With the current recession burdening our individual finances, we want to share some hopeful news with our community! With the approval of the Board of Selectmen, the Candia Community Power Committee was created with the goal of investigating the feasibility of developing and implementing a new and innovative program to buy electricity at group rates. The desired result being the lowering of electricity costs for all participating town residents. The process is underway with interviewing potential energy aggregators. A key part of this process will be a community survey which will determine residents’ interest and preferences.
Briefly, this will be an Opt In/Opt Out program. If you like your current electric supplier, you can decide to stay with them. This committee has been tasked to seek the lowest cost per Kwh for any interested home in Candia through a group rate. There has been ongoing discussions and anxiety over the recent announcements of a big rate hike to our electric bills. The anticipated program launch will be Spring of 2023. In the interim, some people have interest in Direct Energy as a supplier and we encourage everyone to be proactive with seeking out the most current cost-effective pricing for their home electric. Please be careful of any contract which could penalize or charge fees to cancel out should you desire joining in the community program once determined.
There will be more information shared as we progress as a committee. The committee has a webpage on the town website, and we meet every 2nd Thursday monthly. We welcome community participation either present at our meetings or through the Zoom option.
