Summer Reading Kickoff Events

June 27, Thursday at 6:30pm: Summer Kickoff: Our Amazing Butterflies!  Audiences will see wonderful slides of our local butterflies, presented by Jerry Schneider, creator of the award winning Butterfly Game. Audiences will answer questions such as: How can we attract more butterflies to our back yards? What are some ways we can conserve butterfly habitat?  What does a good butterfly garden look like?  When, how, and why do Monarch butterflies go to Mexico?  In addition to answering these questions, we will learn interesting butterfly characteristics (did you know that butterflies taste with their feet?)  Jerry brings displays of butterflies and moths, cocoons, and sometimes caterpillars. The second half of the program is a wonderful tee shirt craft. Gildan tee shirts are $5.00, or kids may bring their own.

June 29, Saturday at 10am: Flying High Dog Show! Mike Piazza is a multiple time world finalist and world record holder in the sport of   K-9 frisbee and the current #1 Professional K-9 frisbee performer in the world! The act is very youth and family friendly! They perform a variety of frisbee & other entertaining tricks during the performance.   What sets the show apart from other acts is a heavy volume of audience participation and performs with some of the most athletic Border collies on the planet to entertain audiences of all ages. We kindly request patrons not bring dogs to the show for safety reasons.

Summer Concert Events (Wednesday nights from 6:30 - 8 pm)

July 10 - Nicole Murphy, Candia native and solo cover artist who sings new and old country music, originals, and classic rock.  Even though she works alone on stage, her sound feels like she is a full band. She is a multi-award winning singer/songwriter and has touched the hearts of many people. Nicole was named 2017 NH CMA Songwriter of the Year, and was awarded the 2017 NH CMA Album of the Year. July 17 - Granite Planet, Granite Planet is a retro cover band featuring music from the 60’s to today, with a focus on the 80’s. Their diverse playlist includes rock, pop, dance/disco, today’s country & a bit of blues. Most of their songs are upbeat and high energy – you’ll want to get up and dance! While the majority of their covers are true to the originals we all know and love, a few are based on more recent versions. The addition of various unique covers helps to make GRANITE PLANET stand out among run-of-the-mill cover bands.

July 24 - Bedford Big Band, a 20+ piece Big Band performing at events ranging from casual to black tie. From outdoor concerts to elegant dinner dances, fund raisers, weddings and anniversary parties — they do it all! Fun and stylish, truly everyone loves Swing and Big Band music! The band’s repertoire includes many of your favorite jazz and Big Band standards, Latin rhythms, waltzes, R&B, as well as some exciting contemporary arrangements that you’re sure to enjoy.

July 31 - Windham Swing Band, An 18-piece big band with saxophones, trombones, trumpets, bass, percussion and vocalist. The Windham Swing Band plays music from the Big Band Era to the present, featuring many familiar standards such as “Sing, Sing, Sing,” and “In the Mood.” Its ballroom dance repertoire ranges from swing, waltz, and foxtrot to cha-cha, mambo, samba, rumba, and hustle.  

August 7 - Clandestine, a Funk and Soul group based out of the Seacoast of NH whose music draws heavily on inspiration from jazz and improvisation. The band consists of Saxophonist Andrew Emanuel, Guitarist Keith Perry, Drummer Chris Salemme, and Bassist Michael Lathwood.
