Candia's Soldiers Monument gets fall cleaning

Fall cleaning chores in Candia recently included the washing and waxing of the town's Soldiers Monument. Erected in 1893 and honoring the memory of all Candia residents who have taken up arms, the statue underwent an extensive restoration in 2007, and since that time, regular cleaning and waxing are needed. The latest sprucing up was overseen by the town's Heritage Commission, with students from nearby Jessie Remington High School providing assistance. The scaffolding was put in place thanks to the efforts of Larry McLaughlin of ATS Equipment, Inc., in Candia, and onsite water was provided by the nearby Stephen Clay Homestead Bed & Breakfast.
